The film Drawing TV, which crowns the cycle Tautological Cinema raises a theme of mass media. The artist intervenes into what’s shown on the TV screen and adds her own visual remarks using a pen. While butting into the discourse of PRL news programs she exposes their propaganda language and their over-idealization. She uses the means that are typical to structural cinema, the fashion which surfaced in the late 1960s and by minimizing meanings and narratives focused on the analysis of the film structure and its material features. The shaking and glimmering screen is not only about capturing the poor quality of the then TV programs but also about adding some artistic value. It is achieved thanks to the difference between the so called frame rate, that is the speed of a shutter in the 8mm camera that’s filming the screen and the shown TV program.
